California is one of my very favorite road trips my family embarks on every summer. The best part this year was that Mario was finally able to come with! He was always welcome, but work and such had gotten in the way in previous years, and this year he didn't have much of a choice because he's married to me anyways. We spend most of our Socal days in Newport Beach, but this year we decided to explore more of what Southern California has to offer. Newport is still my favorite beach to play in, compared to others I have been to, but it was fun getting to see more of the Los Angeles area as well. We ventured out to Santa Monica, a classic landmark, and Mario's favorite.
How can you not love warm days and being able to just head to the beach whenever you feel like it? After a long semester of work and school it felt so amazing being able to just play and hang out with the fam for a while. We explored downtown LA had some amazing wood fire pizza, saw seals at Laguna Beach, took the trolley around Laguna at dusk, had endless beach days, and fell in love with Sprinkles cupcakes. Because really, happiness is a cupcake atm. Those cupcakes really lived up to their name, and we left wishing we had them here in Boise. Our trip was really unforgettable but we could not be happier to be back in our little Boise with nicer traffic and sweltering heat. Mario and I head back to California in just a couple of weeks for a family affair! Cees and Madison are getting married in San Francisco, so that calls for a little road trip to Portland with Ari and Austin and a cruise down the PCH. I cannot wait!
